Brief History
String Silhouette was established in
Auckland in 1992. Violinist Jane Wright was a founding member and manages the quartet
today.
String Silhouette normally appears as a string quartet, however we often appear as a trio or duo when required; invariably for smaller venues. Conversely we have also occasionally appeared as a larger string orchestra.
Although based in Auckland, we do occasionally travel out of the city to venues such as the Bay of Islands, Waiheke Island, and south to the Waikato.
Musicians
String Silhouette draws its players from Aucklands most experienced professional musicians. You will see our players performing in professional orchestras and backing groups, and you will have heard some of them who have played in various recording sessions for television and CD recordings.
String Silhouette is led and managed by Jane Wright. Jane studied violin at Canterbury before leaving New Zealand to work extensively with several London orchestras, predominantly the London Symphony Orchestra. She toured worldwide with them before returning home. Here Jane has worked with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and currently freelances in Auckland with the Auckland Philharmonia. She has also led the Auckland Chamber Orchestra.

Whilst the majority of String Silhouettes work is at weddings, private house parties or corporate functions, we have also performed publicly
